Max-IR Labs builds infrared sensors that read what's in water. The sensor sits in the liquid and measures it in real time, on-site. No samples to send to a lab. Its patented technology calibrates itself, so the readings don't drift. It gives facilities a constant read on wastewater, cooling towers, and industrial process water. Deep science. The brand had to make it easy to trust.

Overview

The challenge

When Max-IR Labs first came to us, they needed everything a new deep tech company needs to show up credibly: a strong brand identity, a logo that could carry the weight of a patented technology, and a website that made complex science feel clear and compelling. We delivered. And then they came back. Years later, with a growing commercial operation, they needed their website to work harder: a full e-commerce storefront for their sensor products and a custom back office to manage the entire operation: products, orders, shipping, billing, and leads, all in one place.
“
"You nailed it the first time: our brand finally felt like us. Now we need the next chapter. We're ready to sell online, but we need the infrastructure behind it to actually work. Can you build the whole thing?"
”

How we brought it to life

Chapter one: We built Max-IR Labs a bold, precise visual identity and a website designed to communicate cutting-edge science to industrial buyers. Chapter two: we came back and evolved that foundation into a full commercial platform: updating the website with an integrated e-commerce experience and building a powerful custom back office from the ground up. From first impression to full operation, every layer of the Max-IR Labs digital presence runs through work we've designed.

Max-IR Labs website

Branding concept & logo design
A mark as precise as the tech

Max-IR Labs needed an identity that could hold its own in industrial boardrooms, scientific publications, and trade show floors simultaneously. We designed a sharp, geometric mark and wordmark system, bold enough to command attention, precise enough to signal the exactness of the technology behind it. Set against a high-contrast dark palette with a distinctive magenta accent, the brand doesn't look like any other lab on the market.

Motion & animation
Science that moves with purpose

We brought the Max-IR Labs website to life with animations designed to do one thing: make invisible technology feel tangible. Infrared spectroscopy is not something you can photograph, so we used motion to communicate how it works, giving industrial buyers and technical evaluators something they can actually feel. Every animation is purposeful, every transition earns its place.

Timeline
Three phases. Fourteen days. Done.

Turning an established website into a fully operational e-commerce platform - complete with a custom management back office, in two weeks sounds ambitious. It was. We ran the project in three tight phases: three days of planning to audit the existing site, research the right e-commerce architecture, and map every requirement; nine days of focused build covering the store setup, the management platform, a full CMS, and email automations; and two final days of launch preparation and QA to make sure everything shipped clean. No extended timelines, no scope creep, just a working platform, on time.

Website design From presence to platform

The first version of the Max-IR Labs site was designed to build credibility and explain a complex technology to industrial buyers: clean, confident, and science-forward. The second version did all of that and added a fully integrated e-commerce experience layered on top of the existing foundation. Same brand. Bigger engine. We evolved the site without breaking what made it work, turning a marketing tool into a revenue channel.

Website management
Built for the team, not the developer

We built Max-IR Labs a back office that puts full control of their digital operation in the hands of the people who actually run the business: no developers, no technical knowledge required. From the same dashboard, their team can manage incoming leads and track each one through the pipeline, review job applications from the Careers portal, and edit every page of their public website through a clean, intuitive CMS, choosing layouts, updating content, and publishing changes instantly. The page editor is built around a visual layout selector, so updating the hero section or adding a new content block feels more like choosing a template than writing code. Everything the company needs to stay in control of its online presence (leads, content, careers, SEO) lives in one place, and anyone on the team can use it from day one.

E-commerce management platform
The full store, behind one login

Running an online store for industrial scientific equipment isn't simple, and the platform we built for Max-IR Labs doesn't pretend otherwise. Their back office gives the team complete control over every layer of the commercial operation: a full product catalog where each item can be edited with rich descriptions, technical specs, pricing, SKUs, and inventory status; an order management system for creating, tracking, and processing purchases from quote to fulfillment; and a customer database that goes beyond a contact list: each customer profile carries a full interaction timeline, logging orders placed, calls made, discounts discussed, and follow-ups needed, so nothing falls through the cracks. Billing and shipping are handled inside the same environment, and the lead pipeline keeps the sales side connected to the store side. It's not just an e-commerce platform. It's a complete commercial operating system, built specifically around how Max-IR Labs sells.

Why it worked

The fact that Max-IR Labs came back is the clearest measure of success on the first project. The brand we built was strong enough to grow with them. And when their needs evolved from presence to platform, we were ready to scale it. Two engagements, one coherent vision: a deep tech company that looks as sophisticated as the science it's commercializing, with the digital infrastructure to back it up.
